Job Description:
To maintain the hatchery facility in a state of optimum cleanliness and to ensure proper egg handling requirements are followed for efficient operation.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Travels with Delivery Drivers and assists with unloading product
  • Helps Driver load Day old chicks onto truck at Hatchery
  • Helps place day old day old chicks in customer barns
  • Washing, disinfecting and/or chemically sanitizing all hatchery equipment, floors and walls through the use of high pressure washers, garden hoses and automatic wash machines
  • Performing manual cleaning duties as required
  • Maintaining care in all egg handling procedures to ensure optimum sanitation and subsequent hatch results
  • Wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment
  • Maintaining total awareness of and ensures compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and Company Health & Safety policies
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Travels with Delivery Drivers as required and assist in the unloading of product at customer facilities
  • Ensures strict adherence to bio-security rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 40lbs, kneeling, climbing, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous Sanitation Experience
  • Previous Production Experience
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
