Hard Metals Australia specializes in the production of new interface and ground engaging tools using tungsten carbide and PDC cutting elements. We also offer a refurbishment service and are looking for people with general work shop skills in fitting and setting of cutting elements using hand tools and thermal and arc welding techniques.

The successful candidates will understand and or willing to learn the setting of cutting elements on a broad range of drilling tools using various assembly techniques and happy to work in a cooperative team environment.

Qualifications & Skillsets

  • Welding certification is essential.
  • Welding certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment commencement.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of fitting and welding experience is required for this position.
  • Good hand skills, attention to detail and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Candidates must possess valid Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.
  • Have a strong appreciation for quality and correct process.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Create effective jigs and fixtures to aid in productive workflow.
  • Assemble and disassemble drilling tools and be conversant with correct torque settings.
  • Apply hard facing using various techniques.
  • Weld drilling tools and stabilizers to AS/NZS 1554 as minimum standard.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to ensure parts are manufactured to the required tolerances and quality standards
  • Able to work reliably, independently and productively.
