Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Renovation Department is seeking to hire a Carpenter Assistant. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Assists carpenters and other trades to include but not limited to: erecting all types of walls, ceilings, and roofs built from wood and metal or vinyl materials using hand and power tools; assists in hanging and finishing dry wall, repairing dry wall and plaster; assists in building head walls and building and setting concrete forms; places re-bar and pouring concrete; assists in erecting various types of scaffolding, installing wood and metal doors, frames and hardware; demolishes wood, metal, brick, block, plaster, drywall, ceramic tile, non-asbestos flooring, vinyl flooring, carpet, concrete, ceiling grid and tile, insulation and properly disposes into a designated roll-off dumpster; under supervision, utilizes and maintains a variety of power tools to include drill, screw guns, reciprocating saw, circular saw, radial arm saw, table saw, planer, sanders, rotary hammer drill, band-saw, tamp, jack hammer, scrapers, air compressor, nail gun, stapler, jigsaw, and router; performs clean-up on construction sites to include sweeping, mopping, raking, power-washing, shoveling, and scraping as needed; utilizes a University vehicle to travel to and from work sites and to transport materials; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.
